'Sell Your Home with Feng Shui': A Complete Guide to Staging Homes for Quick Sale in Any Market
'Sell Your Home with Feng Shui': A Complete Guide to Staging Homes for Quick Sale in Any Market
LAKE TAHOE, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Dealing with the ups and downs of the housing market is an ongoing challenge for real estate professionals or anyone trying to sell a home. What works one year may not be the best approach the next. A seller's market can swiftly shift to a buyer's market and vice versa. Authors Christine Ayres and Cindy Coverdale offer an exciting new tool for selling homes with their book, "Sell Your Home with Feng Shui" (now available through AuthorHouse).
Realtors across the country have come to appreciate the unique opportunity offered by preparing homes for the market using Feng Shui. From creating energetic curb appeal to dealing with difficult stairs, Sell Your Home with Feng Shui provides real estate professionals and homeowners everything needed to present a home in the best possible light. It contains full-color photos of staging techniques, success stories and a quick reference guide to use as a checklist.
Simple and straightforward, "Sell Your Home with Feng Shui" allows the seller to utilize the principles of Feng Shui without years of study or having to hire a professional. According to the authors, "Using these techniques does not require a large financial outlay or a lot of time and effort. Often, simply shifting the placement of what is already present in the home can do the trick."
Ayres is a professional Feng Shui consultant who has been involved with the art since 1989. She lived, worked and studied in Hong Kong for four years. Her company, Feng Shui Services, is based in the Lake Tahoe area of California and Nevada. Her work has been recognized by the national Feng Shui Journal and she has published regular monthly columns on Feng Shui over the past 10 years. Ayres has successfully staged thousands of properties for sale, working with Realtors, homeowners and real estate professionals. "Sell Your Home with Feng Shui" is her first book.
Coverdale, a certified Feng Shui consultant, began her studies in transcendental energy in 1999. She continues to expand her knowledge of Feng Shui as a member of the Katherine Metz Affiliate Program, studying the Black Sect teachings of Professor Lin Yun Rinpoche. She lives in the Lake Tahoe area with her husband, musician David Coverdale, and their son. Coverdale previously co-authored "Food That Rocks."

A Survivor's Story: Author Reaches Out to Wounded Veterans in New Book
A Survivor's Story: Author Reaches Out to Wounded Veterans in New Book
CANYON COUNTRY, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lenin Patino tells the heart-breaking story of his accidental shooting and difficult recovery in his new book "Lenin: A Soldier; A Story of Survival" (published by AuthorHouse - http://www.authorhouse.com/).
In 1992, 18-year-old Patino joined the U.S. Army with high hopes that his tenure there would lead to a more lucrative career than a high school diploma could provide. Impatient to begin his career as Cannon Crewman, Patino not only shaved his head in anticipation, but also pulled his own braces off with pliers, much to the chagrin of his mother and orthodontist.
Patino portrays basic training in vivid detail. He describes nights spent atop his own bedcovers in fear of a drill sergeant's displeasure, since he had not yet been taught the proper method of making up his bed. He touches affectionately on mess-room brawls, ditch-digging and "dusting" (punishment) by eager drill sergeants, immersing the reader wholeheartedly into his own training days.
However, tragedy strikes Patino in March of 1993. In a rare unoccupied moment, Patino looks up from his television set to see a fellow soldier waving a gun in his face. Annoyed, Patino challenges him to shoot, not comprehending that his opponent was intoxicated. That mistake nearly cost him his life.
Three weeks later, Patino wakes up to discover himself unable to speak or communicate in any way. He watches in horror as his family prays over him and discusses his impending death. To them, he appears to be in a deep coma.
As Patino struggles to survive, his harrowing story takes readers to hospitals in Kansas and California and finally to foreign soil in Colombia where he recuperates on his grandparents' farm and eventually meets his future wife.
Patino's refusal to give up in the face of catastrophe is a moving and inspirational story which he hopes will aid the thousands of other disabled veterans in their own struggles. Now married with two beautiful children, he says, "If this book can inspire at least one person to keep fighting when it seems they are up against impossible odds, or if it prevents one family from abandoning a loved one facing a terrible situation, then it was worth writing." "Lenin: A Soldier; A Story of Survival" is Patino's first book. More information can be found at http://www.leninpatino.com/.

FORD's CEO Alan Mulally Meets 20-Year Ford Veteran and Author of 'Ford and the American Dream - Founded On Right Decisions'
FORD's CEO Alan Mulally Meets 20-Year Ford Veteran and Author of 'Ford and the American Dream - Founded On Right Decisions'
The Two Discuss Issues & Recovery Plan Outlined in New Ford Book
NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Clifton Lambreth, 20- year plus Ford veteran and author of the recently released new Ford book -- 'Ford and the American Dream - Founded On Right Decisions' -- risked it all to write the business novel which he believes will help Ford get back on track. Lambreth literally put his job on the line when he sent Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford, the first copy of the book, hot off the press. Well, no pink slip this time! Mulally embraced the book with praise and immediately requested a meeting with Lambreth to discuss it in detail.
Lambreth said of the meeting, "I firmly believe that Ford can and will return to the vision and principles the company was founded on. When I got a call from headquarters, I braced for what destiny had in store. The call was from Mulally himself. He said he 'loved the book' and that it illustrated the best turn-around recovery plan he had ever read and he invited me for lunch."
"We met for lunch on Wednesday, June 13th at Fairlane Manor in Dearborn, - once the home of Ford's founder Henry Ford. "Just for a second, I could imagine Henry Ford was there with us, smiling. Mulally thanked me for having the 'courage to write the book.' He was keenly receptive to openly discussing issues facing the company," Lambreth recalled.
"What a breath of fresh air to have a CEO who listens to feedback! From maintenance team to CEO - everybody is reading Ford and the American Dream - Founded On Right Decisions. I look forward to working with Mulally in the future in the efforts to return Ford to greatness," concluded Lambreth.
Lee Iacocca, former Chrysler CEO, and former Ford President, also praised the new Ford book stating: "I truly enjoyed the read and appreciated the inclusion of my quote in the book. I still stand by those words today."

Texas Employment Report: Employee Confidence Index Rebounds in June As More Workers Are Confident About Finding New Job and Optimistic About Job Market
Texas Employment Report: Employee Confidence Index Rebounds in June As More Workers Are Confident About Finding New Job and Optimistic About Job Market
DALLAS, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Employee Confidence Index increased in June to 61.8, up four points from May, according to the latest Spherion(R) Employment Report. The monthly survey of Texas workers, conducted by Harris Interactive(R) on behalf of Spherion Corporation, revealed that more workers are optimistic about the job market and more are confident in their ability to find a new job.
Results from the Texas Employment Report:
-- Two-thirds (66%) of workers are confident in their ability to find a
new job, up 10 percentage points from May.
-- Thirty-one percent of workers believe that more jobs are available, an
increase of seven percentage points from the previous month.
-- Forty-one percent of workers report they are likely to look for a new
job in the next 12 months, an increase of four percentage points from
May.
"Employee confidence increased significantly in Texas. Across the state, we're seeing evidence of a strengthening job market as a result of increased demand for workers in key industries, including a recent spike in the energy industry," said Kim Lockhart, director of operations for Spherion in Texas. "While this is certainly good news for workers, the picture isn't as bright for employers who are facing a tight market for skilled workers as unemployment rates hover near historic lows. And, some may see the fact that many Texas workers plan on changing jobs soon as a good sign, they need to consider how easy it will be to backfill their vacated positions. There is a bright spot, however. We're continuing to see a trend of more candidates willing to explore career opportunities in fields other than where they are currently working as employers offer more incentives and cast a wider net."

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Employee Confidence Index reached a new high for 2007, increasing 4.8 points to 58.7 in June, according to the Spherion(R) Employment Report. The monthly survey conducted by Harris Interactive(R) on behalf of Spherion Corporation, shows that the increase was due to a higher percentage of workers reporting optimism in the economy and job availability.
Results from the Ohio Employment Report:

compared to 19 percent in May.

Association for Psychological Type International (APTi) Recognizes Honorees for Work With CPP, Inc.
Association for Psychological Type International (APTi) Recognizes Honorees for Work With CPP, Inc.
International Organization Pays Tribute to Individuals for their Effectiveness in Presenting Psychological Type Concepts
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association for Psychological Type International (APTi) has awarded honors to noted CPP author Allen Hammer, Ph.D., Consultant, Manfredo-Curtis Associates, and Robert Weigand, Director of Management Training and Development, St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network, for their work with CPP, Inc., an industry leader in research, training, and organizational development tools, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(R) (MBTI(R)) instrument.
In recognition of his development of the MBTI(R)Complete personality assessment tool for CPP, Hammer received the "Innovations in Training and Education Award," which acknowledges individuals working in the field of psychological type for originality, creativity, or unusual effectiveness in presenting psychological type concepts.
"MBTI(R)Complete is an important innovation for MBTI practitioners and trainers," said John Lord, Executive Director, APTi. "With the Myers-Briggs(R) instrument online and packaged with a basic interpretation of an individual's four-letter personality type, practitioners are freed up from having to provide that initial, basic interpretation. MBTI(R)Complete allows them to instead spend that time with clients applying type knowledge to their situation."
"MBTI(R)Complete enables HR professionals to spend less time interpreting personality assessment results and more time improving personal and organizational performance," said Maria Patrick, Co-President, CPP, Inc.
Thanks to Hammer's work, MBTI(R)Complete helps to fulfill Isabel Briggs Myers' vision of making the benefits of type available to as many people as possible, and by doing that, make their "perceptions clearer, their judgments sounder, and their life closer to their heart's desire."
Also honored was Robert Weigand who received the "Organizational Excellence Award" for his powerful use of the MBTI instrument to boost employee satisfaction and retention, improve customer satisfaction, and enhance teamwork and communication at St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network. The award recognizes exceptional work outside the field of psychological type for the ethical use of type to improve business practices and employee work life.
"The MBTI assessment was used to provide a foundation upon which St. Luke's entire leadership initiative was built," said Lord. "The use of the MBTI [tool] was essential to the achievement of St. Luke's strategic objectives of leadership development, team building, and promoting a better environment. There is strong evidence of a positive impact on the bottom line, customer satisfaction, and employee satisfaction."
In conjunction with making St. Luke's an "MBTI organization," Weigand and his colleague Richard Wagner developed an outcomes measure which is an invaluable tool for both the MBTI practitioner and researcher. This method of measuring the results of introducing type into an organization or group has subsequently been published by CPP in the book Measuring Results of MBTI(R) Type Training: ROI in Action.
With more than two million administrations per year, the Myers-Briggs instrument continues to be the most widely-used personality assessment in the world for understanding "normal" personality differences and using this insight to enhance and improve individual, team, and organizational performance. Developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and Katherine Cook Briggs to make Carl Jung's theory of psychological type understandable and useful in everyday life, the instrument is used within a multitude of fields.
About CPP, Inc.
Since its founding in 1956, CPP, Inc., has been a leading publisher and provider of innovative products and services for individual and organizational development. CPP has been supplying reliable training solutions to businesses of all sizes, including the Fortune 500, for more than 50 years. Among CPP's world-renowned brands and services are CPP Professional Services; the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(R) (MBTI(R)), Strong Interest Inventory(R), Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI), FIRO-B(R), CPI 260(R), and California Psychological Inventory(TM) (CPI(TM) 434) assessments; and Davies-Black(R) Publishing.
For more information on CPP, visit http://www.cpp.com/.
About the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(R) Instrument
The MBTI instrument is the most trusted and widely used personality assessment in the world. Participants identify their preferences on four dichotomies -- Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling, and Judging-Perceiving -- which are then sorted into one of 16 possible four-letter types.
