Tony Dungy Memoir Claims Top Spot on NY Times' Best Sellers List
Tony Dungy Memoir Claims Top Spot on NY Times' Best Sellers List
First NFL-Related Title in History to Claim No. 1 Spot on Times' Hardcover, Nonfiction List
CAROL STREAM, Ill., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy continues to make history. The first African-American coach to ever lead his team to a Super Bowl title, the 51-year-old Dungy is now the author of a New York Times' No. 1 best seller, Quiet Strength. Written with Nathan Whitaker, Dungy's memoir will head the Times' hardcover, nonfiction list on Sunday, August 5, and is the first NFL-related title in history to claim the top spot on this list.
Released July 10, Quiet Strength debuted on the list at No. 2 on the July 29 hardcover, nonfiction list. The 20th sports-related book to ever reach No. 1 on the Times' hardcover, nonfiction list, it is also only the eighth sports-related title to reach the No. 1 spot this decade, joining Juiced by Jose Canseco, My Prison without Bars by Pete Rose and Rick Hill, You Cannot Be Serious by John McEnroe and James Kaplan, Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand, It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life by Lance Armstrong with Sally Jenkins, Foley is Good by Mick Foley, and The Rock Says by The Rock and Joe Layden. Since the 1942 inception of the Times' best sellers list, Quiet Strength is one of only 394 titles to top the hardcover nonfiction list.
Quiet Strength was propelled to the top of the Times' hardcover, nonfiction list by a 10-day book tour that featured stops in seven cities, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Tampa. Dungy's tour began July 9 at the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta, and included 89 individual interviews (television/radio/print/internet), plus red carpet interviews at ESPY award events, several interviews at a Dallas men's conference, and on-location interviews at book signings in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Tampa. High-profile media appearances included: The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, ESPN's Jim Rome is Burning, ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike in the Morning, Fox News Radio, MSNBC's Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough, 34 interviews with local television outlets throughout the U.S. and an exclusive interview with Mark Starr of Newsweek.
During his extensive media tour, Dungy signed Quiet Strength at BookEnds in Ridgewood, N.J.; Anchor Room in Fort Wayne; Berean Christian Store, Family Christian Store, and Barnes & Noble in greater Indianapolis; and Books-a-Million, Borders Books & Music, and LifeWay Christian Store in the Tampa area.
After more than 2,000 people turned out at the Anchor Room signing in Fort Wayne on Sunday, July 15, Tyndale House arranged for a truck of books to be driven from Chicago to Indianapolis that night to accommodate the Indianapolis store locations for their signings the next day, with a realized concern that the stores may have sold out. The book also sold out at the three Tampa area locations on July 17. While Dungy was not able to sign copies for the entire line at any of the signings in Indiana or Florida, he did "walk the line" to meet and greet every person who did not make it to the front of the line to have his or her book signed. Tyndale and newspaper accounts approximate total attendance at the eight book signings to be between 8,000-10,000 fans. In all, Dungy signed approximately 7,500 books for 4,500 individuals.
The first Tyndale hardcover, nonfiction title to reach No. 1 since Lisa Beamer's Let's Roll! was launched in September 2002, Quiet Strength is the ninth Tyndale title to reach No. 1 on either the hardcover fiction or hardcover nonfiction New York Times' best sellers list this decade.
"Quiet Strength is an example of a wonderful melding of mission between Tony Dungy and Tyndale House Publishers," said Janis Long Harris, Associate Publisher. "We believe that much of the success of this book has resulted because Tyndale and Tony share the same goals. We can't thank Tony and his wife, Lauren, and Nathan Whitaker enough for the personal investment that they poured into this project."
Tyndale has ordered a fifth printing of Quiet Strength, and by the end of this week, more than 315,000 copies of the book will be in print.
While Dungy has returned to focusing on coaching and seeking to repeat the Colts' World Champion title, co-author Nathan Whitaker is currently available for interviews. For radio, the website http://www.coachdungy.com/ hosts downloadable pod-casts of the audio book Quiet Strength. Whitaker can discuss these audio clips in more detail, with behind the scenes information, for your listening audience. For interview availability, contact Todd Starowitz or Jessica Quinn.
Tyndale House Publishers was founded in 1962 by Dr. Kenneth N. Taylor as a means of publishing The Living Bible. It is now one of the premier publishing houses in the industry. Tyndale products include numerous New York Times bestsellers, including the popular Left Behind series. All U.S. Investment Styles Lose Ground in July, Says S&P
All U.S. Investment Styles Lose Ground in July, Says S&P
Year-to-Date Mid-Cap Stocks Continue to Outperform Large- and Small-Caps
NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's, the leading provider of financial market intelligence, reported today that all nine U.S. investment styles posted negative returns in July as rising volatility in the U.S. equity market, coupled with deepening liquidity and quality fears, drove stocks lower during the month.
According to Standard & Poor's, the average large-cap stock (as determined by the S&P 500) fell 3.10%, the average mid-cap stock (as determined by the S&P MidCap 400) lost 4.30%, and the average small-cap stock (as determined by the S&P SmallCap 600) dropped 5.04%. Industrials (+0.48%) and Energy (+0.40%) were the only sectors within the S&P Composite 1500 (an index comprised of the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600) to post positive returns in July. The worst performing sector for the month was Financials, which lost 8.10%.
"July was not kind to equity investors. However, year-to-date, all three benchmarks and eight of the 10 sectors are still in the black, with Energy, Industrials, Materials, and Telecom Services showing double-digit advances," notes Sam Stovall, Chief Investment Strategist of Standard & Poor's Equity Research Services. "While August does mark the beginning of a seasonally weak period, S&P's Equity Strategy Group believes we are in the midst of a pullback, poised for a correction, but not likely to enter into a new bear market. The difference between these terms is a matter of percentages."
Year-to-date, however, the three major investment styles continue to show positive returns with the S&P MidCap 400 gaining 7.15%, the S&P 500 rising 3.64%, and the S&P SmallCap 600 increasing 3.07%. The best performing investment style over the first seven months of the year continues to be mid- cap growth as the S&P MidCap 400/Citigroup Growth Index has gained 9.33% through July.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. Co-Invests With GTCR Golder Rauner in the Acquisition of Wilton and Dimensions
NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. (NYSE:MSO) has invested $10 million cash in an entity that acquired Wilton Industries, Inc. and Dimensions Holdings, LLC, announced MSLO President and CEO Susan Lyne. The deal broadens the media and merchandising company's footprint in the crafts market, paving the way for additional licensed Martha Stewart branded crafts products, including food crafts, party favors and weddings.
MSLO co-invested with GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC, one of the nation's leading private equity firms, in Wilton Products, Inc., an entity that already owns EK Success and just acquired two additional crafts companies, Wilton Industries, Inc. and Dimensions Holdings, LLC. The newly combined business has been renamed Wilton Products, Inc., and will be headquartered in Woodridge, Illinois.
MSLO had a preexisting relationship with EK Success and GTCR Golder Rauner. With the new investment, MSLO restructured its existing ownership stake on more favorable terms.
EK Success manufactures, markets and sells the new Martha Stewart Crafts line of paper-based crafting and storage products. The line launched in May exclusively in more than 900 Michaels arts and crafts stores in the United States and Canada and on marthastewartcrafts.com/crafts (http://www.marthastewart.com/crafts). It will be rolling out to independent retailers in the fall.
"I'm enormously proud of our Martha Stewart Crafts line and delighted with the response to it. I'm looking forward to working with Wilton, which represents a tremendous number of opportunities in baking, cake decorating and crafts," said MSLO Founder Martha Stewart.
"This is a great opportunity for us to put our balance sheet to work," stated Ms. Lyne. "We are excited to roll out these additional crafts lines and, by restructuring our existing ownership interest in this larger crafts entity, we are able to participate in a more meaningful way in the value creation associated with our brand."
Robin Marino, President of Merchandising for MSLO, added: "Expansion of our crafts line enables us to serve millions of customers inspired by Martha Stewart to create and celebrate special occasions beautifully. We look forward to working with Wilton to expand our distribution and answer the needs of our passionate crafting constituency."

Waking Up Alone
Waking Up Alone
New Book Helps Readers Cope with Loss of Life Companion
GIG HARBOR, Wash., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Julie K. Cicero, MSW, addresses the complex issues surrounding the loss of a loved one in her new book, Waking Up Alone: Grief & Healing (published by AuthorHouse: http://www.authorhouse.com/).
When Cicero lost her husband in a snowmobile accident, she and her two sons were propelled into a state of grief, confusion and shock. As they embarked on a journey through counseling to deal with their profound loss, they were forced to live a new life that was completely different from the one they had known. Through her book, she hopes to provide a resource to help readers in similar circumstances understand the various aspects of grief and loss. "There are few books with specific focus on the death of a companion," she writes. "My reason for writing this book was to provide the information that I was seeking when my husband died."
Waking Up Alone examines the cultural disconnect Cicero has observed in America regarding the subjects of death and dying. "Many Americans are poorly informed, unprepared and often in denial about these issues," she says. "This denial creates a paradox because if we do not accept death as a natural progression of life, believing that death happens only to other people, we cannot be in the presence of death or the associated grief because being there makes it real. As a result, this denial frequently manifests as a lack of support and compassion for the dying and their families."
Though Cicero acknowledges that people can never fully be prepared for a death, whether it is sudden or anticipated, she believes that healthy ways of managing grief can help survivors reconcile their current and future lives with the past. To facilitate the healing process, she discusses several issues surrounding grief, such as holidays and celebrations, raising children after the death of a parent, grief support, spirituality and the different ways men and women react to loss. "It is important to identify the complex aspects of the resultant grief, addressing both the death (the primary loss) and what the death means to you on a psychological and social level (the secondary losses)," she writes.
Cicero was born in Yakima, Wash. She holds a degree in police science from Yakima Valley College and a degree in criminal justice from Central Washington University. She worked in the insurance industry and criminal and legal fields for 22 years. After her husband died in 2001, she interned at Hospice of Kitsap County and MultiCare Health Systems and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Washington at Tacoma. She currently works as a grief counselor at Hospice of Kitsap County and resides in Gig Harbor, Wash., with her family. More information can be found at http://www.wakingupalonethebook.com/.

Young Poet Covers Broad Array of Topics in New Collection
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- L. Stoney offers a unique collection of poems on a wide array of topics on life and its challenges in his new book, "Titanic Verses" and Other Poems (now available through AuthorHouse).
Completed when Stoney was just 22 years old, this collection of more than 100 poems carries wisdom beyond his years. Using elaborate imagery and wordplay, he crafts verses that touch the reader from a variety of angles: political, factual, social, emotional and erotic.
Separated into 10 sections, the collection includes poems about historical and recorded facts; the downtrodden from beggars and the homeless to poor workers; the Earth and pollution; war and its effects; politics; erotica; and more. The semi-autobiographical collection also serves as a memoir as Stoney tells of the political pain in the country of his birth and the transition he faced from a life of disadvantage to that of plenty.
The poem "Soul Brothers" illustrates his use of wordplay to bring a lighthearted twist to weighty subject matter:
I handcuffed my own soul today
Sold it to a hand-carved friend of clay
And sought to stay behind my skin
Hoping to hide my deadly sin
Arrested my own heart today
And fed it to the wounded tiger
I can feel its wounded heartbeat
In the cage that is my ribcage
For it is my soul I pledge to you
A pledge for a loan I never took
Do with it as you wish, as you will
The debt is mine, the friendship still ours!
Ours, and I realize my soul friend
Is no better than the rest ...
Born in Zimbabwe, Stoney began writing "Titanic Verses" and Other Poems when he was student president of the Creative Writers' Circle in high school. He completed the collection at the age of 22 while training as a chartered accountant and studying for a bachelor's degree at the University of South Africa. He has served as a senior auditor and later as a finance executive at two multinational companies in Africa and beyond. He now lives in New York where he continues his career as an auditor. "Titanic Verses" and Other Poems is his first book. More information is available at http://www.titanicverses.com/.

WorkForce Software Ranked 283rd Fastest Growing Business in Entrepreneur's 2007 Hot 500
WorkForce Software Ranked 283rd Fastest Growing Business in Entrepreneur's 2007 Hot 500
Entrepreneur Unveils America's Fastest Growing Businesses in the 2007 Hot 500 Ranking
LIVONIA, Mich., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- WorkForce Software, a leader in workforce management solutions, announces today that it ranked 283rd in Entrepreneur's Hot 500, a ranking of America's fastest growing businesses for 2007. The Hot 500 marks Entrepreneur's 13th consecutive year of revealing the nation's fastest-growing companies and the entrepreneurs behind them.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070725/AQW012ALOGO)
Entrepreneur compiled the Hot 500 from a database of over 19 million U.S. businesses with the help of the Corporate Research Board, a leading provider of economic and business data, research, and information. Requirements for each company included a minimum level of sales growth, positive job growth from 2002 to 2006, and company sales for 2006 exceeding $1 million. This year's list of Hot 500 entrepreneurs generated $12.6 billion in 2006 revenue.
Based on Entrepreneur's criteria, only 95,000 businesses, or a half-percent of the 19 million businesses, qualified for a nomination. Entrepreneur then contacted the businesses with the greatest growth to confirm eligibility, which also included that the founder must be actively involved in the company, the company cannot be a spin-off or a division of a larger company, and company sales for 2006 must be at least $1 million. It was from this list Entrepreneur selected the Hot 500 of 2007.
Of the Hot 500 companies, 61-percent was profitable by the second year in business and 56-percent earned its first million. Together, the Hot 500 companies expect to employ 58,776 individuals by 2008, growing from 2,807 of their first day of business. Savings and personal funds, friends and family, bank loans, lines of credit and private investors were the most common sources of funding for these growing companies.
WorkForce Software's CEO and founder, Kevin Choksi initiated and funded the start-up of WorkForce Software. He solicited the experience of Mike Knister, chief technology officer, and Kathy Cannon, product and implementation director, to help him start the company in 1999. Without the help of venture capital, WorkForce Software has been a continuously profitable company, increasing its revenue by 550-percent over the past five years. The company also grew from three to eighty employees within a few years, helping support these families in the State of Michigan. In addition to the financial support, WorkForce Software has continued to maintain a flexible work environment for its employees -- providing a work/home life balance that is difficult to come by in today's employment market.
"Being recognized as one of Entrepreneur's Hot 500 is an exceptional honor and we are proud of what our team has accomplished," said Choksi. "We have an exceptionally talented and motivated team that drives the company's success and our customers' successes."

Stephen Covey, Author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R), Applies His Principles to Managing Diabetes
Stephen Covey, Author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R), Applies His Principles to Managing Diabetes
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Stephen Covey, author of the bestselling book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R), and an internationally respected leadership authority, has teamed up with The American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) and Bayer Diabetes Care to introduce a unique patient education tool, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R) with Diabetes.
Currently, more than 14 million people in the US have been diagnosed with diabetes. It is estimated that another 6.2 million people are undiagnosed. Diabetes is a chronic disease that needs to be carefully managed and closely monitored. If diabetes is not managed well or is left untreated it can lead to serious, sometimes life-threatening complications, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, blindness and limb amputations. According to a new GfK Roper Public Affairs survey of people with diabetes, sponsored by Bayer Diabetes Care, 80 percent reported that they are not managing their disease well.
"I have spent my life teaching people how to set and accomplish goals in their personal and professional lives, and am now applying my habits to help people better manage their diabetes," said Covey. "I know diabetes can be challenging to live with, and I have gained an even deeper understanding of that fact since my wife was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Together, with changes in behavior, we turned the diabetes 'curve ball' into an opportunity to learn, grow and deepen our lives."
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R) with Diabetes booklet is a practical resource guide to help people with diabetes adapt life management skills as defined by Covey's "7 Habits" and apply them to the AADE7(TM) Self- Care Behaviors to achieve better disease management.
The booklet advises people to take small steps to manage their chronic illness and to incorporate each of the self-care behaviors into their lives. For example, by applying Covey's Habit 1: Be Proactive, people with diabetes are encouraged to actively take responsibility for managing their condition by following the AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors, such as healthy eating, being active and monitoring blood glucose levels. Also included is an action plan for setting easy-to-achieve self-care goals, one at a time.
"With the increasing epidemic of diabetes, the time is right to provide people living with this chronic illness a new approach to facilitate the needed behavior change to positively impact their disease," said Donna Rice, MBA, BSN, RN, CDE, president of the AADE and a diabetes educator. "Covey's habits, paired with the AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors, do just that. We're grateful to Bayer Diabetes Care for supporting the development of this important resource, which is also valuable for family, friends and caretakers of those diagnosed with diabetes."
"We are really delighted to be the catalyst that brings together Covey's world renowned 7 Habits and the AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors for this new resource that we hope will be an inspiration to people with diabetes," said Sandra Peterson, President of Bayer Diabetes Care.
The GfK Roper Public Affairs March 2007 survey, conducted among 1,069 U.S. adults with diabetes, was designed to identify the specific points when managing one's life and managing one's diabetes do not match up, as well as the barriers that adults living with diabetes need to overcome. To gather these findings, the survey questions were based on the life management habits outlined in Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators' AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors. Survey data were weighted to reflect the demographic profile of the U.S. adult population, doctor-diagnosed with diabetes. The margin of sampling error is plus/minus five percentage points.
Covey's 7 Habits AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors
Habit 1 - Be Proactive 1. Healthy Eating
Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind 2. Being Active
Habit 3 - Put First Things First 3. Monitoring
Habit 4 - Think Win/Win 4. Taking Medication
Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, 5. Problem Solving
Then to Be Understood 6. Reducing Risks
Habit 6 - Synergize 7. Healthy Coping
Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw
Reducing Risks
Healthy Coping Using the habits outlined in Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(R), as well as the AADE7(TM) Self-Care Behaviors, survey respondents were classified into the following four segments and compared:
-- those that manage both their life and diabetes well; 12 percent
-- those that manage neither their life nor diabetes well; 56 percent
-- those that manage their life, but not their diabetes well; 24 percent
-- those that manage their diabetes, but not their life well; 8 percent
The survey suggests that successfully mastering specific life management skills can have a very positive impact on one's diabetes as well. For instance, prioritizing is critical. Adults with diabetes who manage their lives and diabetes well are twice as likely as those who manage neither their lives nor their condition effectively to say they excel at prioritizing and acting on important issues in their lives (90 percent vs. 46 percent). When it comes to diabetes management, it should be a high priority for people to monitor their blood sugar daily in order to maintain consistent blood glucose level control. The survey found that those who manage their lives and diabetes well are more likely than those not managing either well to test their blood sugar seven days a week (75 percent vs. 59 percent).

New Technology Means Safer Buildings
New Technology Means Safer Buildings
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- A new technology from Applied Science International, developed to analyze the behavior of structures exposed to terrorist explosions and unplanned or natural disasters, was announced today by the Homeland Defense Journal. It is expected that this breakthrough will revolutionize how buildings are designed, remodeled and secured especially in the wake of the latest terrorist attacks in London and elsewhere.
Imagine a truck loaded with the equivalent of 4,000 pounds of explosives parking at the curb near the center of a 9-story building. Within 5 seconds of detonation the building is in ruins, having totally collapsed. The explosion takes out a supporting column causing the failure of a main girder and the progressive collapse of the building above. At the end of the day there are 168 confirmed dead and 853 people injured.
Until now, structural engineers have been limited to an approach called the "Finite Element Method", or FEM, to design buildings. The weakness of FEM- based models is that they bend but do not break; they deform but do not separate. It is not an accurate picture of what happens in reality.
Finally, after 12 years of research and development, a new method termed the "Applied Element Method", or AEM, has been completed, redefining how progressive collapse, seismic wave effect, high wind, glass and blast are viewed and analyzed by engineers.
"The building referred to was the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Using ASI modeling, we now know that if the steel reinforcing bars in the main concrete girder had been doubled, the structure would have better withstood the blast and many more people would have survived," said Edward di Girolamo, ASI's Chief Executive Officer.
Knowing potential vulnerabilities of a design allows the making of more informed decisions on structural design and architectural layouts, determining building envelopes and perimeters, opting for alternate material selections, and even developing better security and safety procedures are among the many advantages di Girolamo pointed out.
AEM technology creates a near virtual reality movie depicting the structure's behavior. By coupling this with ASI's Extreme Loading for Structures(R) (ELS) software, a new era in securing buildings through a more thorough and viable vulnerability assessment process has been opened.
"Vulnerability simulations come to life and are easily understood by engineer and non-engineer alike. Visualizing the assessment sets ASI's method apart and gives owners and decision makers a clearer perspective on what they need to know to protect their people, their property and their future," continued di Girolamo.
"For the first time, building owners, designers, architects, engineers, insurance underwriters, and security experts can see what will happen before an event takes place, whether it's a bomb within a building's perimeter, an earthquake underneath it, or a hurricane assaulting it from the side.
"It is the world's only real-time progressive collapse analysis software, and it can be used on any structure at any phase -- from pre-construction design of structures such as towers, sports arenas and bridges to buildings scheduled for remodeling or demolition -- there is no limit to its application."

Smith & Wesson Earns Shooting Industry Awards
Smith & Wesson Earns Shooting Industry Awards
Company Receives 'Manufacturer of Year' and 'Handgun of the Year'
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (NASDAQ:SWHC), parent company of Smith & Wesson Corp., the legendary 155-year old company in the global business of safety, security, protection and sport, announced today that it has received top awards in two categories from the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence. Smith & Wesson was named the "Manufacturer of the Year" for the second year in a row and the company's M&P45 polymer pistol was named "Handgun of the Year".
Established in 1992, the Academy of Excellence is sponsored by FMG Publications, publisher of Shooting Industry, GUNS and American Handgunner magazines. The voting group consists of 500 industry executives, gun dealers and outdoor writers. Smith & Wesson was nominated for "Manufacturer of the Year" for introducing 70 new products including the M&P45 polymer pistol, the Elite Series(TM) and 1000 Series(TM) line of shotguns, the new i-Bolt(TM) rifle and the Classic Series of revolvers; the acquisition of Thompson/Center Arms; the Company's work in supporting and expanding shooting sports by working closely with the NSSF, NRA, USA Shooting and other associations and sponsorships; for selection by the U.S. Government of 73,000 Sigma pistols and 15,000 restraints for allied forces in Afghanistan and Iraq; and for its continued leadership in the industry and protection of the Second Amendment.
Smith & Wesson also received the Shooting Industry's "Handgun of the Year" award for its M&P45 pistol. First introduced at the SHOT Show in February 2007, the M&P45 expanded upon the Military & Police Series of polymer pistols which now also includes a 9mm, a compact 9mm, a .40 caliber, a .40 caliber compact, a tactical rifle and a number of revolvers. Since its launch, the M&P pistol series has been purchased or approved for use by 223 law enforcement agencies. Smith & Wesson intends to submit the M&P45 to the U.S. military as it considers a possible shift to a .45 caliber firearm for greater stopping power. The M&P45 incorporates enhanced ergonomics, ambidextrous controls and proven safety features, and is manufactured with a traditional black or dark earth brown frame by Smith & Wesson in Springfield, MA. Options include a frame-mounted ambidextrous thumb safety and a specially designed lanyard attachment. Providing one of the smallest grip sizes available on any .45 ACP pistol, the M&P45 comes with three interchangeable grip sizes and features a 4.5-inch barrel with an overall length of 8.05 inches.
Michael F. Golden, President and CEO of Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation, said, "On behalf of all of our employees, we are both honored and proud to earn this recognition from professionals within our own industry, not only for our work in shooting sports, but also for our exciting new M&P45 pistol. We remain dedicated to supporting our industry's advancements and to developing innovative products that surpass the expectations of our loyal customers everywhere."
